This is a statewide conference for people who want to be a part of the effort to stop the cuts and start reinvesting in Colorado’s students, schools, colleges and communities. Register today for early bird pricing!

Conference participants will:

Connect to the state movement to make 2013 “The Year of the Student,” when state leaders finally take action to stop and reverse Colorado’s school and higher ed funding crisis;
Brainstorm with public education supporters from across Colorado about easy, effective ways to engage the public in mill campaigns and state funding advocacy;
Learn how to use social media to spread the word, influence the legislature, and raise awareness;
Learn about the Lobato decision and what citizens can do to enforce this landmark school funding case.

Jeffco Proposal Delays Painful Budget Cuts

We want to thank you for making education and our kids your priority. This campaign started as a low rumble of discontent and grew into a movement of folks willing to stand up for our schools and our communities. You made that happen. You collected signatures from more than 142,000 Coloradans to get Proposition 103 on the ballot, and you mailed thousands of letters and called thousands of voters in September and October. Even though the vote did not turn out the way we had hoped, thanks to you and the movement that you built on a shoestring budget, Colorado voters sent a clear message: Coloradans value reinvesting in our communities, our schools and our kids.

Now we must pick up the work of finding a long-term fix to Colorado’s structural budget problems. Frankly, there isn’t time to lick our wounds. Our kids and our economy can’t wait. We want to thank you for everything you’ve given — for your time and your energy. Please know that you’ve played a critical part in jump-starting the long overdue conversation about reinvesting in our kids and our future.

Golden Mayor Smith Says YES on Prop. 103

In his Jacob’s Golden Update email to the community, Golden Mayor Jacob Smith reviews his stand on Proposition 103, and recommends a YES vote. Regarding the details of Prop. 103, he explains, “The changes really are modest…” He goes on to add, “..it’s still clear that continued school funding declines are making it extremely difficult for even our best teachers and principals to give our kids the education they deserve. My recommendation is to vote yes on Proposition 103.”

North Evergreen Letter Writing Parties for Prop. 103

An open-invitation to all Evergreen Middle School and Bergen PTA members to learn more about Proposition 103 and write letters to neighbors to get out the vote! Hosted by Liz Cohen (EMS), Suzi Hoffer (The Bergens) and Casey Shea (Great Education Colorado). Both the Colorado PTA and the Jeffco PTA have endorsed Proposition 103. However, these Evergreen events are hosted individually, and are not sponsored by the EMS or The Bergens PTA.

AAUW Lakewood Presents Prop. 103 Thursday, October 13th

AAUW will hold their Lakewood Branch Meeting to present Proposition 103 and introduce Jeffco School Board Candidates. Carol Hedges, Director of Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute, will speak about Prop. 103 and explain the benefits to education. Jeffco School Board Candidates attending include District 3: Preston Branaugh and Jill Fellman; and District 4: Lesley Dahlkemper and Jim Powers.

The program will begin at 7:15pm. Please show your support of Prop. 103 and attend this meeting.
